God wants us to wash ourselves clean before we approach Him, in both testaments. Even Moses, the friend of God and a type of Messiah, was commanded to wash himself.

Agreed. The book of Esther shows this also in that before she could go to the king, she first underwent a year of cleansing, purifying, etiquette training, etc… We, as Christians, would do well to put a little more reverence into our relationship with the King of the universe! So many of us show up in our spiritual sweat pants.
